Please be aware of certain lifestyle restrictions that may have a bearing on your stay in Marble.
Bear awareness. All garbage must be put in bear-proof trash receptacles. This is more for the safety of the bear than for you. Problem bears are destroyed, and we happen to think bears are about the coolest animals on the face of the earth. They swim, fish and hike just like us, and care for their children just as passionately as we do. Bear safety pamphlets are available in the lodge. Don't run from a bear! (yeah, right!)
Food. Food is not readily available in Marble. We recommend that you buy your groceries in Carbondale on the way to the lodge, because once you are here - you won't want to leave! We also provide a pantry where you can purchase frozen pizzas, lasagnas, and other meal and snack items.
Phones. There is no cell phone service in Marble. Really. We can assist you with faxes, e-mail, and general phone needs, but there aren't phones in any of the cabins or lodge rooms, (and many guests feel this feature actually enhances their experience here!) There is a phone in the lodge which guests can use. Long distance calls within the United States are free. Wifi calling can be used if your phone is enabled.
Recycling/Compost. We try to keep our footprint as small as possible. We provide recycling containers in every cabin and room as well as compost buckets that we use right here on the property! Just put your recycling and compost on the porch in the morning when full and we will collect it and return it to you.
Beaver Lake Use. We are a short walking distance away from Beaver Lake and have canoes, oars and lifejackets for guest use. However, you do need a fishing license (even if not fishing) or a use license to be on the lake. You can find more information at CPWShop.com
Gasoline. The nearest gas station is 40 minutes away. Carbondale is the last location to the East. Paonia is the closest location to the West.
Safety. The safety of our guests is very important to us. The nearest hospital is 1 hour away. Consider that when you are about to try something unusual.
Pets. Pets are welcome in our cabins only. We charge a $12.50 pet cleaning fee per pet, per night. Pets are not to be left unattended at any time. Pet owners are responsible for clean-up and damages. Leash laws exist in town and on all Federal land.
